Nepali Popular Song : Resham Pheree Ree

Nepali folk song : Resham Phree Ree

You are almost certain to hear folk songs in the hills. If you are travelling with trekking staff your own crew will probably entertain themselves –and you-with songs and dances to the accompaniment of a two – headed drum called MADAL . If you are staying in local lodges or homestay the entertainers may be villagers, trekking staff or the children of the hotel owner.
Most song consists of an endless series of verses and a chorus. One or two people who now the words to verses usually take the lead and everyone joins in the chorus. Here is one of the most popular song and a rough translation of the lyrics.

Resham Pheree ree
Resham Pheree ree , Resham phere ree,
Udeyra jaunkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham Phee ree
The silk cloth is fluttering, the silk clothing is fluttering
Should I fly to the hilltop and the ridge?
The silk cloth is fluttering
Ek naley banduk, dui naley banduk, mirga lai takey ko
Mirga lai mailey tekeko hoeine, maya lai dakey ko
One –barreled gun, twin-barreled gun targeted at the dear
It’s not the deer that I am aiming at , but at my dear
Chourus:
Resham phere ree, reshem pheree ree
Udeyra jaunkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Resham Phee ree
Kukur lai kutti kutti , Biralo lai suri
Timro hamro paya priti dobato ma kuri
To the dog , it’s puppy , puppy , to the cat it’s meow meow
Our love is waiting at the crossroads.

Repeat Chorus:
Reshem Pheree ree
Reshem pheree ree, reshem pheree ree
Udeyra jaunkee dandaa ma bhanjyang
Reshem Pheree ree

' Tourism in Nepal " an Essay by Shikhar KC

                                                  “Essay Writing”
                     TOURISM IN NEPAL
Tourism is an English word popular all over the world. Tourism generally refers to the business that deals with the tourist. It is the biggest industry, it has its influence throughout the world even in our country Nepal, one of the richest in natural beauty. This industry has become an issue of great concern in every country existing in this world.
Tourists are the persons who travel different places away from their residence with the purpose of business, entertainment, holiday, pilgrimage, vacations and so on. Thus, tourism industry is the trade that is generally brought in practice with the view to deal with tourists.
Tourism is of great importance for each and every country as it does not only help in economic development but also in the overall development of a country. In the present context, tourism is supporting 1.8 % of the total GNP. This industry includes hotels, restaurants, entertainment centers, adventure centers and so on, which is the want of each and every tourist.
In the present context of our beautiful country, Nepal, which has the highest peak of the world. Nepal is highly rich is biodiversity, highly prosperous in its ancient art, culture, sculpture. In spite of its small size, tourism is highly influenced here. Tourism is mainly flourished in places like Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Solukhumbu which has variety of bio-diversity, culture and whose people can give a warm, happier and friendly welcome to the tourists. Thus, Nepal has been the best destination for all the tourists residing in different nooks and corners of the world.
Tourism Industry has truly helped a lot to our country as it does have a lot of advantages. It is a source of foreign currency for Nepal, it has helped to develop physical infrastructures of development, and it has helped to maintain a strong diplomatic relation with many Asian, European as well as countries of other continents like North America, South America and Australia. It has even provided courage and has developed interest in people to establish cottage industry.
It is not important for anything to have only merits. Alike this industry has also some of major drawbacks.  This industry has brought influence of drugs and affected the local culture as youths easily get attracted to the foreign culture that may lead to the extinction or rareness of our own culture in near future. This industry has also brought severe problems like life threatening diseases and pollution along with the increment in the number of crime. Though, it has demerits, the numbers of merits are comparatively more than demerits. So, tourism is likely to flourish in a rapid pace in Nepal
Even though Nepal realized the importance of tourism, it has not been able to make proper maintenance of national property for the development of tourism. Government of Nepal especially the department and ministry directed to perform the works related to tourism should establish hotels, restaurants, entertainment centers, security to tourists, organized tourist centers in order to take much benefit from the industry. Moreover, they should  give an intense priority to protect the monuments, buildings, statues, arts and other property that reflect our unique lifestyle, tradition, culture and give opportunity to the local people to protect their traditional, cultural and obviously the natural  property so that they can have the realization of their responsibility and belongingness, that reflects the  status of contemporary society.
So, in nutshell, we should develop tourism industry and help it to flourish in a proper and systematic manner for smooth and rapid development of our country. We should also never forget that the nature has provided us with its most precious gift as a plus point for us all.
